March 19, 2013

As we know permanent makeup is a great and beautiful way to be effortlessly gorgeous every day. But, we must stay on top of our aftercare so when we are fully healed we can put our best face forward! Now, without further ado here are the permanent makeup post-procedure healing basics: (Best products used for aftercare are: Healquick, Lip Protek, Aquaphor, and eyewash.)

Let’s start with lips! At first they will be tender and swollen and will have a heavy lipstick look (which will decrease in color up to 40% after healing) for about 2 days following the procedure. Keep moist for 21 days with Healquick, and blot often to remove excess lymph for the first few days. Keep out of the sun for 7 days and after those 7 are up, continue to use sunscreen to aid in the longevity of your tattoo.

Eyeliner: (*Do not put any makeup on the area until day 4.) Expect light to moderate swelling and redness for up to three days. Crushed ice in a plastic bag may be used after the first hour to keep swelling down and alleviate any stinging. Eyelashes may stick together after procedure do not pick or use mascara (unless it’s new). Sleep with head elevated and rinse eyes with eyewash as needed. It’s not uncommon to lose 50% of color on the first application. No worries! this is why Sheila Bella offers 2 sessions in each procedure!:)

Eyebrows: You might have slight swelling, expect thickness and/or redness for 1-2 days following the procedure. Apply Healquick, wait 5-10 minutes and with a tissue wipe the excess lymph 2x a day to keep the scabs from forming thick. Do this for a full 5 days of healing, then apply Healquick only at night to moisturize. Keep out of the sun for 7 days and after the 7 days keep sunscreen to aid in the longevity of the tattoo.

And there you have it! The quick, Permanent Makeup post-procedure basics! Follow these simple steps and any others in your post-procedure care booklet and you’re well on your way to easy healing with absolutely gorgeous results.
